CEILING MOUNT TV BRACKET
Ceiling mounts for flat screen televisions are in general different that the
ceiling mounts for your old cathode ray tube (CRT) television. If you remember, for CRT tv's they basically sat on
a platform which humg from the ceiling in a box type format. Because of the inherent different shape size and
weight difference of LCD, plasma and LED televisions, these HDTV's in general are mounted to the ceiling with a
pole. Attached to the pole are different types of mounting brackets. The size and shape depends on the size and
positioning desired for your HDTV.
Ther are several factors which come into play in a ceiling mount tv bracket. The most important would seem to be
the ability to attach the pole securely to the ceiling. You must attach the tv mounting bracket to a
joist. You can't just use some drywall screws and think it will support your tv. Seems obvious, but I
thought I would mention it anyway. The advantage of LCD, plasma and LED tv's is there low weight. Therefore
attaching one to your ceiling may now be possible for your room when it wasn't before with the heavy CRT
televisions.
Did you know the electricity to run an LCD or plasma television can run between $120 and
$180 a year? However, LED televisions use about 40% less power.
The size of your HDTV also is a big factor. Attaching a 22 inch LCD tv is obviously
easier than the more than twice as heavy 42 inch flat screen. In general the cost of the bracket is proportional to
the size of tv you want to mount on the ceiling. The ease of installation I would say is about the same. However,
lifting say a 47 inch screen up to your ceiling and attaching it can be quite difficult by yourself.
You also will consider if you want to mount more tha one tv to the ceiling. There are ceiling mounts available
which will handle more than one flat screen. Maybe you want to hang the television
outside. There are ceiling mounts that will shield the tv from the elements such as rain and sun. A covered deck or
screened in porch make an excellent place to put an LCD tv so you can enjoy nature and still catch the fooball game
or morning news.
Attaching your new LCD, plasma or LED tv to your ceiling can be a great option. Maybee even turn your rec room
into a mini sports bar! You get the picture. I hope you found this helpful and as always have a blessed day!
